THE CAREER BEHIND THE WORK

A career across golf,
business and new ventures.

Royal Blackheath

Richard’s journey took him from competing and learning on the Lytham coast to Head of Coaching at the RAC Country Club, before becoming Head Professional at Royal Blackheath in 2001. The oldest golf club in England and the third oldest in the world, Royal Blackheath provided the setting for his work as an independent franchisee, serving its London membership while upholding the club’s heritage.

As Head Professional and an independent franchisee, Richard employed eight highly qualified PGA players and coaches. In his additional role as Director of Golf, he also managed the administration and operational team, delivering outstanding Member service. The PGA coaching operation also covered England's largest private junior golf operation.

Current advisory work

His work currently spans two sites, with several more in development.

The Mad Swans brand culture is fun, inclusive and innovative, with high standards throughout. Joel and Richard’s working relationship is built on action, uncompromising quality and an intense focus on business priorities.
